Stay warm this winter

With the nights growing ever colder, an electric blanket can be a cosy way to warm up at night – but make sure that you are using it safely.

Check that your electric blanket is not more than 10 years old, is not damaged, damp or frayed and does not have scorch marks or loose connections. It should never be folded or come into contact with fluids like hot drinks. So be careful with your cocoa.

If you are thinking of buying an electric blanket, make sure to get it from a reliable source and check that it has a UK safety standard mark. This symbol means the blanket has been independently tested and meets the latest UK and European safety standards.
