The NFCC has a unique role in representing Fire & Rescue Services at a national level and, as the professional voice of the fire and rescue service and aim for maximum impact. They strive to harness knowledge and expertise from across the country, bringing it together for the benefit of all.

Their mission is to support UK Fire & Rescue services to deliver safer communities, they will:

  • Lead, co-ordinate, and support outstanding prevention, protection, resilience and emergency response, locally, nationally and internationally, to reduce the loss of life, personal injury and damage to property and the environment.

  • Support Fire & Rescue Services and members in transforming their role and improving their services to meeting challenging demands and resources for the benefit of society.

Campaigns

The Charge Safe Campaign was launched in October 2024. This campaign encourages positive consumer behaviour when buying and maintaining e-bike and e-scooter products.

Make sure you charge your ebike or scooter battery safely. Follow these simple steps to reduce the risk of fire:

Do not leave your device charging unattended or when you are asleep.

Do not charge or store your batteries in the hallway or where it could block your escape.

Only use the correct charger for your battery.

Ensure you have working smoke alarms on every floor of your home, including where you charge your batteries.

Only buy ebikes, E Scooters and batteries from trusted retailers and manufacturers.

Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for charging and using your product.

Do not attempt to modify or tamper with the battery.

Check the product is marked with a ‘CE’ or ‘ukca’ mark to ensure they comply with UK product safety standards.

It is recommended that a professional carries out an ebike conversion, they will be responsible for ensuring that the ebike is safe and fitted with the correct motor battery and charger.
