HUNDREDS of tributes have been made to Watch Manager Rick Henthorne who sadly passed away in the early hours of Friday morning (December 28), following a heart attack on Sunday (December 23) whilst off duty.

Rick aged 42, will be sadly missed by family, friends and colleagues at GMFRS.

Statement from Rick's family: “Rick was a much loved dad, son, brother and partner and we cannot put into words how much he meant to us, and how much he will be missed.

“He was an amazing dad to son William, who he adored and a wonderful person to be around. There was never a dull moment with Rick, he was full of laughter, always had a tale to tell and lived life to the full with a close group of long term friends.

“The fire service was big part of his life, and to him his colleagues were just like family and I know that he will be missed wholeheartedly by all of his friends and co-workers.

“He gave so much of his time to others, helping the community and we are so very proud of him. His wish to help others with organ donations will now help and enhance the lives of other people which is a testament to the man he was.

“We would also like thank all the medical staff at Royal Bolton Hospital or their wonderful treatment, compassion and understanding during this very difficult and sad time.”
