Firefighters raise £10,000 for charity

FOLLOWING completion of their Caledonian challenge in June this year, GMFRS firefighters now have two cheques totalling £10,000 for a pair of charities close to their hearts.

Firefighters who took part in the challenge have received a £5,000 cheque to give to both The Fire Fighters' Charity and Prostate Cancer UK, and want to thank everyone who supported them and donated.

The three-day challenge kickstarted on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, when the group - from Gorton, Moss Side, Philips Park, and Broughton community fire stations - made a start on the 116km coast-to-coast route, known as the Great Glen. The challenge included the famous Loch Ness, with firefighters tackling its huge waves in challenging weather conditions.
