It is with great sadness we share with you the news of the death of firefighter Rick Casey.
Over the past year Rick bravely battled with a rare form of cancer, Renal Medullary Carcinoma, and passed away yesterday (May 1).
Rick, aged 49, joined GMFRS in 2003 and served on Oldham Green Watch.
Chief Fire Officer, Jim Wallace said: “It is with great sadness I bring you the news of the passing of firefighter Rick Casey.
“Rick joined the service in 2003 and will be dearly missed by everyone that knew and worked with him at Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
“Our deepest condolences and sympathies go out to Rick’s family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time.”
Flags at all GMFRS sites are today being flown at half-mast as a mark of respect to Rick.
