Building fire - The Chinese Buffet, The Rock, Bury

At 9.56am Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to a building fire at The Chinese Buffet in The Rock, Bury.

There are currently eight fire engines in attendance alongside specialist units from Ashton’s Technical Response Unit.

At the height of the incident, six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus fought the fire in two sectors using one jet, one hose reel, a number of covering jets and a 13.5m ladder.

The fire measuring approximately 30m x 30m is now out and crews are working with site managers to ventilate the building and ensure that there are no further pockets of fire.

One male casualty has been assessed at the scene by paramedics for smoke inhalation.

Nearby roads remained closed from Angouleme Way, which also cuts off access to Clerke Street. Please avoid the area if possible.
