Learners and new drivers
Did you Know?
The majority of young drivers are safe, considerate and attentive, But, 17–25-year-olds are still much more at risk of being in a serious collision than other road users, particularly during their first year after passing their test.
In 2014 to 2023 there has been 5,401 Car Casualties in Greater Manchester aged between 16-25 years old, 581 of those were seriously injured and 45 sadly lost their lives.
-
Always stick to speed limits. Excess speed is one of the main causes of teenage accidents
-
Always wear your seat belt & make sure everyone else does too!
-
Adjust your car's head rest to a height behind your head, not your neck, this will minimise whiplash in an accident
-
Make sure your windscreen is clean & ensure that your washers are topped up
-
When traffic lights turn green, make sure junctions are clear, before you move off
-
Never pull out in front of anyone, or swerve into someone else's lane
-
Don't make assumptions about what other drivers are going to do.
