YESTERDAY, Thursday March 8, at 4.35pm three fire engines from Sale, Blackley and Broughton attended a garage fire in Bleasdale Close, Bury.
On arrival firefighters found a fire involving a washing machine and tumble dryer in an integral garage of a detached house.
Firefighters wearing four breathing apparatus used two hose reels and a positive pressure ventilation fan to tackle the fire.
Two causalities were treated by the fire service Trauma Technicians for smoke inhalation and were also assessed by the ambulance service at the scene, no casualties were transferred to hospital.
Fire crews were in attendance for just under an hour.
Prevention Service Delivery Manager, Kenny Fletcher-Beer said: "Tumble dryers are really useful to save time in our busy lives, but like all appliances care is needed to ensure safety.
"Don’t overload electrical sockets and always follow manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning and placement of a tumble dryer.
"Remember that, in the event of a fire, a working smoke alarm hugely increases your chance of escape. Make sure you have smoke alarms fitted throughout your home and test them every week.”
