Tameside has a residential population of 213,410, with a population density of 20.7 persons per hectare. The Borough covers 40 square miles centred on the River Tame. Combining a mix of urban and rural landscapes, the area includes historic market towns, a canal network and industrial heritage areas as well as direct motorway links and a 20-minute journey to Manchester Airport.
