Whenever we talk about the fire service the common image is that of Firefighters fighting fires - however the role of the fire service is far wider than just this.
A large part of our role is working alongside the local
communities making homes safe from fire hazards, visiting and
speaking to local schools and businesses about fire safety, and
supporting and working with children and young people across
the region.
Our volunteers, who are better known as CAT (Community Action
Team), play a vital role in the success of many of these community
initiatives, acting as support to the fire crews and providing a
friendly focal point of contact within the community.
So now you've watched our video about volunteering and you think you can help - you can. If you are 18 or over and would like to join us to learn new skills, make a difference through community working, and enhance and compliment our Service… take the first step and apply now.
If you would like more information about the role of our volunteers take a look through this section. If there's anything else you would like to know we are always happy to hear from you please contact us on 0161 608 9225 (between 9:30 - 5:30).
