We have now received sufficient applications for the next intake of trainee Firefighters therefore the application process has now closed. We will be opening up the application process again in August for a January 2009 intake – details of the timetable will be placed on the website in August.

Other uniformed opportunities
We currently have opportunities for Inter Brigade Transfers and are also inviting applications from appropriately experienced and qualified individuals interested in joining Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service at Station Manager B level.

Becoming a Control Centre Operator
This highly-skilled role involves working in the Control Room at Brigade Headquarters with the team responsible for receiving '999' emergency calls. These can range from minor grass fires to major incidents and often involve close co-ordination with the Police and Ambulance Services. We are currently recruiting for a Crew Manager Control (Job Share).

Current vacancies for support positions
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has 400 non-uniformed members of staff. They provide a vital range of support services including human resources, finance, corporate communications, property management, fleet management and information technology.

Volunteers wanted
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service's Community Action Team is looking for volunteers in Trafford borough interested in helping local communities stay safe.
