Weekend incidents - Sunday, July 9

BETWEEN 5.30pm on Friday, July 7, and 8.30am on Monday, July 10, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to 304 incidents.

Road traffic collision – Rochdale

AT 3.46am on Sunday, July 9, two crews from Rochdale and the special response team from Ashton were called to a road traffic collision between two vehicles on Manchester Road, Rochdale.

Crews assessed one casualty, who had escaped his vehicle before they arrived.

Firefighters were in attendance for 50 minutes.

 

House fire – Oldham

THREE crews from Oldham and Chadderton were called to a fire at a terraced house on Hilda Street, Oldham, at 3.58am on Sunday, July 9.

On arrival crews found a kitchen on fire and used one hose reel, two breathing apparatus and a specialist fan to extinguish it.

Firefighters were on the scene for just less than an hour.

 

House fire – Irlam

AT 3.33pm on Sunday, July 9, three crews from Eccles and Irlam were called to a fire at a house on The Meadows, Irlam.

On arrival crews found there had been a fire in the kitchen, assisted a casualty who was suffering from breathing in smoke and used a specialist fan to clear smoke from the property.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 25 minutes.

 

Building fire – Bolton

THREE crews from Bolton Central and Wigan were called to a fire on Salop Street, Bolton, at 5.16pm on Sunday, July 9.

On arrival crews found a fire on the ground floor of an office block and used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a specialist fan to extinguish it.

Firefighters were in attendance for an hour and 10 minutes.

 

Rubbish fire – Bolton

AT 6.48pm on Sunday, July 9, three crews from Bolton Central and Bolton North were called to a fire at a house on Mancroft Avenue, Bolton.

On arrival crews found a pile of rubbish on fire which had spread to the guttering of a nearby house and used one hose reel to put it out.

The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.

Firefighters carried out safe and well visits to nearby properties and were on the scene for approximately 30 minutes.

 

Caravan fire – Bolton

AT 9.21pm on Sunday, July 9, two crews from Bolton North and Bolton Central were called to a fire at Barlow Park, Bolton.

On arrival crews found a caravan on fire with multiple other small fires nearby, using one breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish them.

The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.

Firefighters were in attendance for 25 minutes.
