Weekend incidents - Saturday, September 16

BETWEEN 5.30pm on Friday, September 15, and 8.30am on Monday, September 18, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service was called to 223 incidents.

Road traffic collision – Manchester

AT 2.17am on Saturday, September 16, two crews from Sale and Stretford along with the technical response unit and major rescue unit from Ashton were called to a road traffic collision between two cars on Milton Road, Manchester.

On arrival crews used specialist cutting equipment to rescue one casualty from their car before they were taken to hospital by ambulance crews.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately one hour and 30 minutes.

 

House fire – Manchester

THREE crews from Whitehill and Gorton were called to a fire at a house on Milford Drive, Manchester, at 9.38am on Saturday, September 16.

On arrival crews found a fire downstairs and used six breathing apparatus, three hose reels, specialist tools and a ventilation fan to extinguish it. Crews rescued one casualty who was taken to hospital. Two other people escaped the fire before crews arrived.

The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately one hour and 30 minutes.

 

Road traffic collision – Droylsden

AT 9.50am on Saturday, September 16, one crew from Philips Park along with the technical response unit and major rescue unit from Ashton were called to a road traffic collision involving one car on Manchester Road, Droylsden.

One casualty was rescued from their car by crews using specialist cutting equipment before they were taken to hospital by ambulance crews.

Firefighters were on the scene for 30 minutes.

 

Rubbish fire – Manchester

THREE crews from Philips Park and Manchester Central were called to a fire at a terraced house on Jocelyn Street, Manchester, at 2.13pm on Saturday, September 16.

On arrival crews found a large quantity of rubbish on fire which had spread to the nearby house and used one hose reel and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish it.

One casualty was treated by firefighters, who were on the scene for approximately 50 minutes.

 

Garage fire – Tyldesley

AT 6.43pm on Saturday, September 16, three crews from Atherton, Hindley and Leigh were called to a fire on Crawford Avenue, Tyldesley.

On arrival crews found a garage on fire and used one hose reel and two breathing apparatus to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 50 minutes.

 

Derelict flat fire – Manchester

THREE crews from Manchester Central and Moss Side were called a fire at a derelict block of flats on Hursthead Walk, Manchester, at 7.41pm on Saturday, September 16.

On arrival crews found a fire on the stairway on the second floor and used one hose reel, a ladder and specialist tools to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 35 minutes.
