Weekend incidents - Saturday, June 24

BETWEEN 5.30pm on Friday, June 23, and 8.30am on Monday, June 26, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to 267 incidents.

Construction fire – Cheadle

AT 6.26pm on Saturday, June 24, five crews from Cheadle, Withington, Wythenshawe and Hyde were called a fire on a construction site on Mill Lane, Cheadle.

On arrival crews found four houses alight and used three jets, two hose reels and one breathing apparatus to extinguish it.

Crews were in attendance for several hours.

 

Car fire – Manchester

AT 8.47pm on Saturday, June 24, three crews from Moss Side, Withington and Gorton were called to a fire on Ellanby Close, Manchester.

On arrival crews found a car, fence and shed on fire and used two hose reels and one breathing apparatus to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire was deliberate.

Firefighters were in attendance for an hour.

 

House fire – Ashton

TWO crews from Stalybridge and Ashton and the technical rescue unit from Ashton were called to a fire at a house on Hazel Avenue, Ashton, at 11.04pm on Saturday, June 24.

On arrival crews found a fire on the first floor and used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a specialist fan to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

Firefighters were on the scene for two hours.

 

Shed fire – Lostock

AT 11.34pm on Saturday, June 24, two fire engines from Bolton Central were called to a fire on Kilsby Close, Lostock.

On arrival crews found a shed on fire and used one hose reel and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish it.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 45 minutes.
