Weekend incidents - Saturday, July 8

BETWEEN 5.30pm on Friday, July 7, and 8.30am on Monday, July 10, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to 304 incidents.

House fire – Bolton

AT 9.14am on Saturday, July 8 four crews from Bolton Central, Bolton North and Atherton attended a fire in a terraced house in Rosamond Street in Bolton.

A 40 year old woman and three children under the age of 13 sadly lost their lives in the blaze. A 41 year old man managed to escape the fire and was treated in hospital. 

Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the devastated property and used hose reels to extinguish the fire.

Flat fire – Manchester

AT 11.36am on Saturday, July 8, three crews from Wythenshawe, Stockport and Cheadle were called to a fire on Coxton Road, Manchester.

On arrival crews found a fire in the roof of a terraced house and extinguished it using two hose reels, two jets, four breathing apparatus and a ladder.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately six and a half hours.

 

House fire – Manchester

THREE crews from Moss Side, Manchester Central and Gorton were called to a house fire on Kensington Street, Manchester, at 1.54pm on Saturday, July 8.

On arrival crews found a fire on the first floor and used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a specialist fan to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 30 minutes.

 

Road traffic collision – Bury

AT 1.58pm on Saturday, July 8, two crews from Bury and Broughton along with the technical response unit and special response team from Ashton were called to a road traffic collision between two vehicles on Manchester Road, Bury.

Crews used specialist tools and medical equipment before the casualty was taken to hospital by ambulance crews.

Firefighters were in attendance for approximately 50 minutes.

 

House fire – Rochdale

AT 3.04pm on Saturday, July 8, three crews from Chadderton and Rochdale were called to a fire at a house on Aubrey Street, Rochdale.

On arrival crews found a fire in the kitchen and used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel, a thermal imaging camera and a specialist fan to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

Firefighters were in attendance for approximately 35 minutes.

 

House fire – Swinton

THREE crews from Salford, Eccles and Manchester Central were called to a house fire on Grasmere Road, Swinton, at 3.40pm on Saturday, July 8.

On arrival crews found a fire on the first floor and used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels, a thermal imaging camera and a specialist fan to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately two hours and 10 minutes.

 

Road traffic collision – Lowton

AT 11.58pm two crews from Warrington and Leigh along with the major response unit and technical response unit from Leigh were called to a road traffic collision on Wilton Lane, Culcheth.

On arrival crews rescued two people and were on the scene for approximately 20 minutes.
