Weekend incidents - Friday, July 28

BETWEEN 5.30pm on Friday, July 28, and 8.30am on Monday, July 31, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to 236 incidents.

Tumble dryer fire – Standish Lower Ground

AT 5.37pm on Friday, July 28, three crews from Wigan and Skelmersdale were called to a fire in a kitchen at a house on Margaret Avenue, Standish Lower Ground.

On arrival crews found a tumble dryer on fire and used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a specialist fan to extinguish it. Oxygen therapy was given by crews to one casualty.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

Firefighters were on the scene for 40 minutes.

 

Garage fire – Leigh

TWO crews from Leigh and Atherton were called to a garage on fire on Okell Grove, Leigh, at 8.29pm on Friday, July 28.

Crews used two hose reels, lighting and specialist tools to extinguish the fire, which is believed to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 50 minutes.

 

Road traffic collision – Altrincham

AT 10.40pm on Friday, July 28, two crews from Altrincham and Sale along with the technical response unit and major rescue unit from Ashton were called to a road traffic collision in Timperley, Altrincham.

On arrival crews found two cars had collided at the junction of Eaton Drive and Riddings Road and rescued one casualty from their car. Four other casualties had escaped their vehicle before crews arrived and were checked over by ambulance crews.

Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment, lighting and a longboard and were on the scene for an hour and 35 minutes.
