At 2.42pm on Tuesday, July 11, four crews from Heywood, Philips Park, Chadderton and Blackley were called to a fire at an unoccupied mill on Oldham Road, Middleton.

On arrival crews found a fire on the ground floor and used two jets, four breathing apparatus, two specialist fans, lighting and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish it.

Station Manager Mark Doggett said: “Although the fire is now out please stay away from the mill as it is dangerous and you could put yourself at a real risk of harm.”
