BETWEEN 5.30pm on Tuesday, September 5, and 8.30am on Wednesday, September 6, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to 45 incidents.

Barge fire – Hyde
AT 6.32pm on Tuesday, September 5, three crews from Ashton and Hyde, along with the water incident unit from Eccles, were called to a fire near to Raglan Street, Hyde.
On arrival crews found a disused barge on fire in the canal and used one jet, a thermal imaging camera and a light portable pump to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters were on the scene for approximately one hour and ten minutes.
Kitchen fire – Manchester
THREE crews from Manchester Central, Philips Park and Gorton were called to a fire at a semi-detached house on Western Street, Manchester, at 7.43pm on Tuesday, September 5.
On arrival crews found a fire in the kitchen and used one hose reel, two breathing apparatus, a foam extinguisher and a ventilation fan to extinguish it and clear smoke from the house.
One casualty was given a dressing for a burn by firefighters.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
Crews would like to remind people to take care when cooking and to swap any chip pans for an electric deep fat fryer as they are much safer to use.
Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 45 minutes.
