Between 5.30pm on Wednesday, May 31 and 8am on Thursday, June 1, we recieved 107 calls and attended 46 incidents. Below is an incident from Thursday night.
Flat fire – Atherton
AT 00.34am on Thursday, June 1, three fire engines from Bolton Central, Hindley and Atherton attended a flat fire in Milton Close in Atherton.
On arrival firefighters used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a ventilation fan to extinguish the flames. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Two adults and two children were recused from the flat and crews remained on the scene for two hours.
Car fire – Swinton
AT 2.04 am on Thursday, June 1, three fire engines from Agecroft and Eccles attended a car fire in Poplar Road, Swinton.
On arrival firefighters found a car in flames on the driveway of a house and they used two hose reels and two breathing apparatus to extinguish it. The fire was thought to have been started deliberately.
There were no casualties and firefighters remained on the scene for 50 minutes.
House fire – Heywood
AT 4.54am on Thursday, June 1, three fire engines from Heywood, Bury and Whitefield attended a house fire in Gencoe Close, Heywood.
The fire began due to an electrical fault in the bathroom fan, which spread to the outside of the property. To extinguish the fire two breathing apparatus and one hose reel were used.
There were no casualties at the scene and firefighters remained on the scene for just over one hour.
