AT 11.54pm on Thursday, September 14, three fire engines from Oldham and Chadderton attended a fire involving a tumble dryer at a flat in Flora Street, Oldham.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel to tackle the fire before clearing smoke from the property with a positive pressure fan.

Crew remained at the scene for around 90 minutes and the cause of the fire is believed to be a build up of materials and fibres.

You do not cover the vent or any other opening.

You sweep or vacuum the areas around the dryer regularly to prevent fluff build up.
