Kitchen fire and puppy rescue – Wigan 

JUST before 6pm on August 22, three fire engines from Atherton, Farnworth and Eccles stations attended a kitchen fire, involving an oven, at a house in Whimbrel Road, Astley. Crews broke into the property, and used a hose and breathing apparatus to tackle the fire and rescue a puppy. The crews were on the scene for just over an hour.

Vacant flat on fire – Salford

AT 8.31pm on August 22, three fire engines from Farnworth and Agecroft tackled a vacant flat on fire at Russell Court, Little Hulton. Firefighters uses breathing apparatus and a hose to put bring the fire under control. The cause was thought to be deliberate. They were on the scene for just under 1 hour, 30 minutes.

House fire – Manchester

AT 5.37am on August 23, three fire engines from Manchester Central and Broughton fire stations responded to reports of a house fire in Carlyle Close, Manchester. On arrival, crews discovered a fire involving a marquee in a back garden that had then spread to the kitchen of the property, and was affecting the facias of two other homes close by. Firefighters broke in, used hoses and breathing apparatus to bring the fire under control, and cleared smoke from the house.
