Between the hours of 5.30pm on Wednesday, February 8, and 8.00am on Thursday, February 9, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service received 59 calls and were mobilised to 36 incidents. The below may be of interest.
Wednesday, February 8
Road traffic collision – M62
THREE crews from Eccles, Irlam and Birchwood along with the technical response unit and the major rescue unit from Leigh were called to a road traffic collision between junctions 12 and 11 on the M62 at 7.12pm on Wednesday, February 8.
On arrival firefighters quickly released one casualty using stabilising equipment, cutting gear and lighting.
The casualty was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Crews were on the scene for approximately one hour and 40 minutes.
House fire – Manchester
AT 9.05pm on Wednesday, February 8 three crews from Wythenshawe and Cheadle were called to a fire at a terraced-house on Thirlby Drive, Manchester.
On arrival crews found a fire in the living room and used four breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a positive pressure fan to extinguish the fire.
One person had escaped the fire before crews arrived and was taken to hospital for a precautionary check.
The cause is still under investigation
Firefighters were on the scene for approximately two hours.
Building fire – Manchester
AT 11.37pm on Wednesday, February 8 three crews from Withington, Moss Side and Stockport were called to a commercial building on fire on School Lane, Manchester.
Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a positive pressure fan to extinguish the fire.
The cause is still under investigation.
Crews were on the scene for an hour.
