Between 5.30pm on Monday, November 13 and 8am, Tuesday, November 14, 104 calls were made to the fire service, with firefighters attending 55 incidents.

Road traffic collision - Cheadle

At 00:10am on November 14, two fire engines from Stockport and Cheadle, along with the technical response unit from Ashton-under-Lyne, attended a road traffic collision involving one car on Gatley Road, Cheadle.

Firefighters used one hose reel, stabilisation equipment and weber cutting equipment to rescue one person from the car who was then taken to hospital.

Crews were in attendance for 35 minutes.


Commercial fire – Westhoughton

At 02:58am on November 14, three fire engines from Bolton Central, Hindley and Atherton, along with the major response unit and technical response unit from Leigh, were called to a commercial building fire on Wigan Road, Westhoughton.

On arrival crews found the fire involved the ground floor of the building and used two high pressure cold cutting systems, two hose reels, two breathing apparatus, a stihl saw and a nine metre ladder to put the fire out.

Crews were in attendance for three and a half hours.


Flat fire - Salford

At 06:34am on November 14, three fire engines from Broughton, Manchester Central and Salford were called to a fire in a ground floor flat on Great Cheetham Street West in Salford.

Firefighters rescued five people from the flat. One person who was suffering the effects of smoke inhalation was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

Crews used two hose reels, two breathing apparatus, a thermal imaging camera and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire.

They were in attendance for approximately one hour.


House fire - Manchester

At 07:11am on November 14, three fire engines from Salford, Philips Park and Moss Side attended a fire at a house on Barrow Hill Road in Manchester.

The fire involved an electrical appliance on the ground floor and firefighters used a dry powder extinguisher and two breathing apparatus to put the fire out.

Crews were in attendance for approximately thirty minutes.
