Kitchen fire, Reddish - Wednesday, September 20

BETWEEN 5.30pm on Wednesday, September 20, and 8.30am on Thursday, September 21, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service was called to 42 incidents.

Kitchen fire – Reddish

AT 6.43pm on Wednesday, September 20, three crews from Whitehill and Gorton were called to a fire at a terraced house on Greg Street, Reddish.

On arrival crews found a fire in the kitchen and used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a specialist ventilation fan to extinguish it.

Crews would like to remind people to never leave any flammable objects on or near to their hobs or ovens.

Firefighters were on the scene for 45 minutes.

Safety advice if you find your kitchen on fire:

  • Don't panic and don't take risks
  • If it's safe to do so - turn off the heat, but never lean over the fire to reach the controls
  • Leave the kitchen, close the door behind you, tell everyone else in the home to get out and don't go back inside for any reason
  • Call 999
