Conveyor belt fire – Trafford Park
AT 4.22am on Saturday, September 23, three fire engines from Eccles and Stretford were called to reports of a fire in Tenax Road, Trafford Park.
On arrival, firefighters discovered a quantity of rubbish ablaze on a conveyor belt.
Fireifghters used one short extension ladder, cutting equipment and breaking in gear to access the area before extinguishing the fire with one hose reel.
A thermal imaging camera was also used to monitor the wider area to check for any fire spread.
The cause of the fire is believed to be a fault with the conveyor belt. As one of the rollers seized, the belt continued to move causing friction.
Firefighters remained at the scene for around one hour and 15 minutes.
Flat fire – Wigan
AT 1.37pm on September 23, three fire engines from Wigan and Hindley were called to a fire at a ground floor flat in Keats Avenue, Wigan.
Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and two hose reels to tackle the fire before clearing smoke from the property with a positive pressure fan.

Firefighters remained at the scene for around 70 minutes.
Idustrial unit fire – Wigan
Firefighters worked through the night to deal with the blaze at an industrial unit in Kirkless Industrial Estate, Aspull.
