ON Monday, May 29, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended 104 incidents. Read about three fires we attended below.
Shop fire - Bolton
AT 4:27pm on Monday, May 29, two crews from Bolton attended a fire at a derelict shop in Bank Street, Bolton.
Firefighters used two hose reels, two powered saws, one extension ladder, one nine metre ladder, two positive pressure ventilation fans and four breathing apparatus to extinguish the flames.
Crews were in attendance for approximately two hours.
Electrical oven fire - Irlam
AT 6:59pm on Monday, May 29, two crews from Eccles and Stretford attended a fire involving an electrical oven at an industrial unit in Huntsman Drive, Irlam.
Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel, a positive pressure ventilation unit and an ultra-high powered lance to bring the fire under control.
Crews were in attendance for ninety minutes. The cause of the fire was accidental and was due to a faulty appliance.
Kitchen fire – Stockport
AT 8:10pm on Monday, May 29, three crews from Offerton, Stockport and Poynton attended a fire involving a cooker in a mid-terrace flat in Hazelwood Road, Stockport.
Firefighters used two hose reels, four breathing apparatus, a thermal imaging camera and one positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the flames.
There was damage to cooker and surrounding units. Firefighters led one casualty to safety and administered first aid.
Crews were in attendance for approximately one hour. The cause of the fire was accidental.
