Kitchen fire – Rochdale

At 1.59am on Monday, June 5, two crews from Rochdale and Heywood were called to a fire in Rathbone Street, Rochdale.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to extinguish a fire involving a pan of food on a cooker. High pressure fans were used to clear smoke and firefighters removed the cooker from the property as a precaution.

Crews were at the incident for 45 minutes and the cause of the fire was accidental – a pan of cooking had been left unattended.

 

House fire – Manchester

At 2.46am on Monday, June 5, two crews from Gorton and one from Philips Park were called to a fire in Chapman Street, Manchester.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish a fire in a semi-detached property. Firefighters isolated the electric and gas supply and used high pressured fans to clear smoke.

The fire caused damage to the loft, a first floor bedroom and ground floor dining room. No one was involved in the fire.

Crews were at the scene for about three hours.

The cause of the fire is accidental.
