BETWEEN 8.30am to 5:30pm on Tuesday, June 27, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to 40 incidents. Read about two of the incidents below.

House fire – Oldham

AT 1:10pm on Tuesday, June 27, three crews from Oldham, Hollins and Chadderton attended a house fire at a mid-terraced property in Copster Hill Road, Oldham.

Firefighters wearing four breathing apparatus used a short extension ladder, dragon lamps and two hose reels to extinguish the flames.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to disperse the smoke. Crews were on the scene for two hours and fifty minutes.

RTC – Hindley

AT 3:55pm on Tuesday, June 27, two crews from Wigan and Leigh, and the technical response and major rescue unit from Leigh were called to a road traffic collision at the junction of Hall Lane and Ladies Lane, Hindley.

On arrival, crews found the collision involving three vehicles with two casualties trapped. Crews used specialist cutting gear to rescue two casualties, who were then taken to hospital by the Ambulance Service. 

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately one hour and twenty minutes.
