Fire in derelict portacabin in Middleton
At 7.19pm two fire engines from Heywood attended a fire in a derelict portacabin at a builder’s yard on Bowness Road in Middleton. Firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and were on the scene for around 50 minutes. The cause was suspected to be deliberate.
Bin fire at five storey property in Manchester
At 11.58pm four fire engines from Manchester Central, Philips Park and Salford attended a fire involving commercial bins in a five storey domestic property on Sharp Street in Manchester. Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus brought the fire under control using a hose reel and a pressure fan. Crews were on the scene for about an hour, which firefighters believe was started accidentally.
Road traffic collision in Broughton
At 1.05am two fire engines from Manchester Central and Broughton stations, along with the Technical Rescue Unit and Major Rescue Unit from Ashton under Lyne attended a road traffic collision on Woodlands Road in Manchester. Crews rescued one casualty using cutting equipment, who was later treated by the North West Ambulance Service and conveyed to hospital with minor injuries. We were on the scene for around 50 minutes.
