We attended 27 incidents today between 08:30 and 17:30.

House fire - Prestwich

At 13:41 on December 7 four fire engines from Broughton, Agecroft, Whitefield and Blackley stations attended a domestic property fire with reports of people inside the building, on Sandy Lane in Prestwich. On arrival crews located three casualties, all suffering the effects of smoke and led them to safety. The incident involved the ground floor and conservatory of a semi-detached property and firefighters used three hose reels, six breathing apparatus and lighting to extinguish the fire. The fire service also administered first aid to three casualties who were suffering from burns and smoke inhalation. Crews were in attendance for two hours and fifty minutes

Van fire - Manchester

At 13:51 on December 7, three fire engines from Manchester Central, Moss Side and Salford Stations attended a van fire on Whitworth Street West, Manchester. The van was located in an underground car park and firefighters used four breathing apparatus and two hose reels. Crews were at scene approximately one hour.

Shed fire - Horwich

At 14:39 on December 7, two fire engines from Horwich and Bolton North stations attended a shed fire on Highland Road, Horwich. The shed measured approximately 10’ x 8’ and a small amount of damage was also caused to an adjoining shed. Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and two hose reels and remained at scene approximately fifty minutes.

Flat fire - Manchester

At 14:57 on December 7, three fire engines from Manchester Central and Salford stations, attended an incident on Chatham Street, Manchester, along with the hydraulic platform from Stretford. The incident involved a bedroom within a first floor flat and firefighters used one hose reel and three breathing apparatus. There was one casualty suffering the effects of smoke who was treated at scene by paramedics. Crews were engaged at scene just over an hour.
