Between 8.30am and 5.30pm on Friday, April 21, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service received 88 calls and attended 42 incidents.

Below are details of some incidents crews attended:

House fire – Hindley

AT 9.05am on Friday, April 21, three crews from Hindley and Wigan were called to a fire at a house on Argyle Street, Hindley.

On arrival crews found a fire involving some garden waste that had spread to the ground floor of the house and used one hose reel, breaking in gear and a thermal imaging camera to bring it under control.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

Firefighters were on the scene for 30 minutes.

 

Road traffic collision – Wigan

TWO crews from Wigan and a technical response unit from Leigh were called to a road traffic collision involving two cars on Shaftesbury Street, Wigan, at 12.04pm on Friday, April 21.

Crews rescued one casualty using specialised tools, who was taken to hospital by ambulance crews.

Firefighters were on the scene for an hour.

 

Road traffic collision – Farnworth

AT 2.28pm on Friday, April 21, one crew from Farnworth and the major rescue unit and technical response unit from Leigh were called to a road traffic collision between two vehicles at the junction of Worsley Road and Bradford Street, Farnworth.

One casualty had rescued themselves from the collision and was taken to hospital by ambulance crews.

Firefighters assisted Greater Manchester Police to make the scene safe using specialist equipment and were on the scene for approximately 40 minutes.

 

House fire – Hindley

THREE crews from Hindley, Wigan and Atherton were called to a fire at a semi-detached house on Bedford Gardens, Hindley at 3.20pm on Friday, April 21.

On arrival crews found a fire involving a tumble dryer in the kitchen and extinguished it using two breathing apparatus and two hose reels, and used a fan to clear smoke from the property.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately one hour and 15 minutes.
