Cooker fire – Wigan
AT 5.52pm on August 25, three fire engines from Wigan, Horwich and Hindley stations attended a fire on Butler Street, Wigan. The fire involved a pan of food on a cooker. Crews used breathing apparatus and a hose to put out the fire. One casualty suffered from smoke inhalation and was taken to a nearby hospital as a precautionary measure. Crews were on the scene for half an hour.

Road traffic collision – Leigh
JUST before 11pm on August 25, two fire engines from Atherton and Leigh fire stations and the technical response unit and major rescue unit from Leigh fire station were called to a road traffic collision involving two cars on Holden Road in Leigh. Firefighters rescued one casualty from a car using cutting gear. The casualty was taken to hospital for precautionary checks by paramedics. Four other casualties were also treated by paramedics. Crews were in attendance for around one hour.
