Cooking fire – Bolton – May 17

THREE fire engines from Bolton Central and Bolton North attended a building fire involving a quantity of food left on a grill at a house in Oriel Street, Bolton at 11.09pm on May 17.

Crews rescued men from the house after their neighbour dialled 999. Despite the house having a working smoke alarm both men failed to respond and were lead to safety by firefighters.

Both casualties declined oxygen therapy and hospital treatment and firefighters were at the scene for around half an hour.

It is important to remember the dangers of becoming distracted while cooking. Always stand by your pan.
