Barn fire - Walshaw
At 7.54pm on Saturday (May 13) the fire service was called to reports of a building fire in Walshaw Lane, Walshaw.
Four crews from Bury, Whitefield, Bolton Central and Rochdale are in attendance at a fire involving a barn used as hay storage, measuring 20m by 30m.
Two additional fire engines have been requested to attend to assist. Firefighters are wearing breathing apparatus and tackling the fire with jets and hose reels.
About 30 firefighters have been working hard to tackle the fire and it is now contained and under control. Little smoke remains in the area and it is safe or nearby residents to open windows and doors.
Crews have worked with the owners of the farm to ensure all the animals on site are safe and out of harms way.
Firefighters will now continue to extinguish what remains of the fire and dampen down the area over the coming hours.
The cause of the fire will be investigated.

Following an investigation the cause of the fire has been determined as deliberate.
