Between 8am Saturday, May 20 and 8am on Sunday, May 21, approximately 170 calls were made to North West Fire Control relating to incidents in the Greater Manchester area, with around 100 requiring emergency response.

Below are some of the incidents attended by our firefighters during this time.

RUBBISH FIRE - Prestwich

At 7.23pm, firefighters attended a rubbish fire inside a derelict pub, The Plough Inn in Rainsough Brow in Prestwich. Crew from Agecroft, Broughton and Whitefield attended the fire and extinguished it using a hose reel. They were on the scene for 25 minutes.


At 9pm firefighters from Whitefield and Farnworth attended a shed fire in St Pauls Close in Radcliffe. The fire which involved an outside shed and fence panels in the back garden of a property was tackled using a hose reel. Crew were at the scene for 40 minutes. The cause of the fire is thought to be deliberate.


At 9.39pm crew attended a fire in a derelict garage in Anchor Lane, Manchester. Firefighters from Gorton and Whitehill used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and were on the scene for 45 minutes.
