Incidents – Wednesday, July 5 (8am to 5.30pm)

Borough: Manchester

Incident Date: 05 July 2017

Between 8am and 5.30pm on Wednesday, July 5, approximately 75 calls were made to North West Fire Control relating to incidents in the Greater Manchester area, with around 40 requiring emergency response.

Below are details of one of the incidents attended by our firefighters today.

House fire in Manchester

Three fire engines, from Moss Side and Manchester Central, were today (Jul 5) called to John Heywood Street in Manchester at 3.37pm.

On arrival at the semi-detached house fire crew gained entry, and wearing breathing apparatus they used hose reels to tackle the fire involving a bedroom and the loft.

Firefighters rescued a terrier-type dog from the house, and reunited the pooch with its grateful owners – who arrived home while firefighters were dealing with the incident.

Crew members also used a pressure fan to remove smoke from the house and were at the address for just under two hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
