Between 5.30pm Friday, May 19 and 8am on Saturday, May 20, approximately 100 calls were made to North West Fire Control relating to incidents in the Greater Manchester area, with around 60 requiring emergency response.
Below are details of one of the incidents attended by our firefighters on Friday, May 19.
TUMBLE DRYER FIRE - Ashton under Lyne
At 5.37pm on Friday, May 19, crew attended a tumble dryer fire in Mason Street, Ashton under Lyne.
Firefighters from Ashton under Lyne, Hyde and Hollins attended the fire in the terraced property and used a dry powder to extinguish the fire.
One casualty was given oxygen at the scene and assessed by North West Ambulance Service but was not taken to hospital. Crews were on the scene for 35 minutes.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
