FIREFIGHTERS in Eccles and Wigan were called out to fires involving cooking on Monday night.
Two fire engines from Wigan Fire Station were called out to a flat on Crompton Street, Scholes, at 9.20pm on Monday, January 16.
A 62-year-old man had left a pan of food on the cooker and it had caught fire, two firefighters in breathing apparatus went in and found the fire had gone out.
The man declined the offer of any medical treatment.
At 9.45pm, two crews from Eccles Fire Station were called to Station Road, Patricroft, after a pan of oil on a cooker caught fire.
Two firefighters in breathing apparatus went in and found the fire was already out.
They used a fan to clear the smoke.
A woman was checked over by an ambulance crew but did not want to go to hospital.
