Miles Platting school fire

Firefighters tackle a blaze in an unoccupied school in Miles Platting.

At 19:48 on 7th July 2008 fire crews from Manchester Central, Philips Park, Blackley and other surrounding stations were called to an incident in Kirkhaven Square in Miles Platting. An unoccupied school was on fire.
The blaze had spread across the first and ground floor of the two storey building. Firefighters used specialist equipment such as six jets, four sets of breathing apparatus and an aerial monitor to put out the fire.
The cause of the blaze was children with matches.
