Hoax Caller: No, 313 Premier Inn, Portland Street.
Control Operator: The Premier Inn.
Hoax Caller: Yes, I just set my waste paper bin on fire by putting a cigarette in there.
Control Operator: What road are you on again?
Hoax Caller: Portland Street (very muffled voice which is difficult to understand).
Control Operator: Auckland Street.

Hoax Caller: No, Portland Street.

Hoax Caller: Manchester.

Hoax Caller: Yes.
Control Operator: Right, it’s the Premier Inn on Portland Street. Right, what have you done?
Hoax Caller: Well basically I chucked a cigarette in my waste paper bin. Err... I have put it out but err... the rules are if anything happens you call yourselves. Right, I’ll ring reception and let them know.
Control Operator: Have you told reception?
Hoax Caller: Not yet, no.
Control Operator: What room are you in?
Hoax Caller: 313.

Control Operator: Fire Service, what is the address?
Hoax Caller: Rightie-ho, hello there. I am currently going through Stockport by the bus station. The river that runs between the bus station and a place called Regent’s House.
Control Operator: Right, do you know what road you are on?
Hoax Caller: I don’t. I just actually got on a bus and I just getting off the bus now so I can stay here until you arrive.
Control Operator: Right, I need a road name so I can send a fire engine.
Hoax Caller: It’s err... Stockport bus station.
Control Operator: Have you got a road at all?
Hoax Caller: Err I don’t know the area I am not actually from the area. Err... there is a sign here I can spell it for you… Chestergate.
(pause)
Control Operator: That’s what it says the road is?
Hoax Caller: Yes, there is a sign on the brick wall that says Chestergate. It’s a road or street name or something.
Control Operator: Alright, it says Chestergate in Stockport?
Hoax Caller: Yes.
Control Operator: And what is it that’s on fire?
Hoax Caller: It’s not actually a fire. What it is someone has been messing around on the little bridge over the river and he has actually fallen a bit too far.
Control Operator: Sorry.
Hoax Caller: He has actually fallen into the water.
Control Operator: Somebody has fallen into the water.
Hoax Caller: Yep. That’s why I asked for the ambulance service as well.
Control Operator: Right and that’s near to Regent House and the bus station. Can you see the person?
Hoax Caller: Err... I saw him go down under the bridge that’s why I asked for the ambulance service.
Control Operator: Do you reckon he is still in the water or has he climbed out?
Hoax Caller: I can’t see as he has actually gone under the bridge. (Pause) There is a hell of a massive fall – a 50ft drop.
Control Operator: Right, what we’ll do is give this to the ambulance as well. Have you managed to make contact with the person?
Hoax Caller: I have been shouting. That’s as far as I’ve got but I’ve got no answer.
Control Operator: Are you ok? Did you say you are going to stay there to show… (Hoax caller interrupts)
Hoax Caller: I am waiting yes.
Control Operator: Alright then, we are on our way to it now.
Hoax Caller: Thank you.
