September 2007 - Recruits take part in a smoke house training exercise
Firefighter recruits participate in a training session in the 'smoke house'. The smoke house is used to help recruits practice wearing breathing apparatus whilst navigating an array of rooms, tunnels, shafts and other obstacles in darkness. The smoke house at our Training Centre (pictured) also has the capability to create a controlled fire situation to put even the most confident recruits to the test.
