House fire, Hyde - Friday, March 23

Borough: Tameside

Incident Date: 23 March 2018

Firefighters remain at the scene of a house fire in Hyde this morning.

At 1.31am on Friday 23 March, fire fighters were called to a large fire involving the roof space of a corner terraced house on Enfield Street in Hyde.

Six fire engines, along with an aerial platform, one technical rescue unit and one major rescue unit attended the fire, which had spread to three neighbouring properties.

Firefighters used eight breathing apparatus, three hose reels one jet and the hydraulic platform to quickly bring the fire under control and stop it spreading further.

Residents of two occupied homes had safely evacuated before the fire service arrived. Neighbouring residents were also evacuated as a precaution and are now back in their homes.

Two crews remain at the scene carrying out thermal scans and tackling any remaining pockets of fire.
