Fire Service scoops two prestigious PR awards
21 November 2008
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) has been honoured with two awards by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) for this website and also its internal publication, In the Loop.
The CIPR PRide Awards is the only awards scheme which showcases the best PR work being carried out across the UK regions and nations and sets industry standards. The judging process is rigorous with a national panel of industry experts assessing the shortlisted entries and choosing the winners.
This year’s event for the North West region took place at The Hilton Hotel in Manchester on 20th November 2008 where GMFRS was presented with a Gold Award for Best Newspaper or Magazine and a Silver award for Best Website or Microsite.
Dave Sanders, Chair of CIPR North West said: "To win a CIPR PRide Award is always a tremendous achievement. The competition seems to get stronger every year so this year's winners really do have something to shout about. A CIPR PRide Award is a hallmark of professionalism and success, marking the very best of the best in our profession."
What the judges said
Silver Award – Best Website or Microsite
“This was a very thorough and professional campaign. From the research they carried out at the beginning to set their challenges, through the design and evaluation, we felt that they had understood and delivered exceptionally well against their objectives. We particularly admired the clarity and accessibility of the design and tone of voice, and the simple but effective communication of the personality and services on offer.”
Gold Award – Best Newspaper or Magazine
“This magazine delivers very clearly a pride in the Fire Service. Featuring loads of good news and inspirational stories. It was far and away the best entry, and it captured the spirit of what it’s like to work for the Fire Service. The in-house team are to be congratulated for producing such a powerful, engaging magazine.”
