Bolton Central open day

Ex-Coronation Street actress Suranne Jones was just one of stars who appeared at Bolton Central Fire Station's Open Day on 16th August 2008.

Bolton Central Fire Station opened its doors to the public on Saturday 16th August 2008 for an action-packed and star-studded open day.
The event was organised following a serious house fire in Great Lever in Bolton. An elderly woman and her five year old granddaughter tragically died and a 24 year woman remains in hospital. Three Bolton firefighters were also injured, one of which remains seriously ill in hospital. In accordance with the family of the seriously injured firefighter, all proceeds from the event (over £6,000) were donated to The Fire Fighters Charity.
Boxer Amir Khan, ex-Coronation Street actress Suranne Jones and comedian Dave Spikey joined in the fun on the day and another special attraction was a classic car display which included 007s' Aston Martin.
Other attractions included:
- Old and new fire appliances;
- Police and Ambulance vehicles;
- Bolton Mountain Rescue Team;
- Firefighting displays;
- The Firefighter Experience;
- Beat the Goalie.
