Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is a member of Wigan and Leigh Community Safety Partnership which aims to tackle crime, disorder, fear of crime and drugs & alcohol misuse in the area.

Coalfields Regeneration Trust - www.coalfields-regen.org.uk
The charity is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people in Britain’s coalfield communities and supports Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service in Wigan by financing an accredited youth training course for our firefighters.

Students from Wigan and Leigh College participate in a one day awareness course as part of their public service qualification.

We aim to increase the number of home fire risk assessments in Wigan by partnering by utilising Age Concern to generate and undertake Home Fire Risk Assessments on behalf of the brigade.

Wigan Council Anti-Social Behaviour Unit - www.wigan.gov.uk
We continue to get referrals from the Anti-Social Behaviour Unit onto the Wigan Borough Firefighter Awareness Scheme which helps young people who are on the fringe of committing crime or participating in anti-social behaviour.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Arena Housing was signed to ensure that all new tenants receive a free home fire safety check from the fire service.

NHS Patient Care Trust - www.wiganleigh.nhs.uk
Working with the NHS Patient Care Trust, we developed a Memorandum of Understanding whereby patients attending doctors surgeries were offered Home Fire Safety Checks by the doctor's receptionist when attending for an appointment.
