Community partnerships

Violent Crime Steering Group
By working with the steering group, we hope to reduce fires, support vulnerable members of the community and stop violence towards our firefighters.

Discussions are taking place to train social services staff to identify and refer vulnerable people for home fire risk assessments.

Bangladesh Welfare Association - www.bangladesh-welfare.org.uk
We are working with the Bangladesh Welfare Association to increase the number of home fire risk assessments within this community.

Turning Point - www.turning-point.co.uk
Turning Point is a social care organisation. Part of their work involves supporting families with young children when the responsible adults are drug users. Four of the Turning Point team in Tameside have now been supplied with the kit to carry out home fire risk assessments on our behalf in the properties of vulnerable people.

Bridging The Gap
This organisation reaches out to people who have or have had a drug habit. It helps them get rid of their dependence on drugs and find employment. Members of the Bridging the Gap team are currently undergoing training to carry out home fire risk assessments and promote the fire safety message.

We have carried out high profile road traffic collision demonstrations to students to highlight the necessity for road safety and thus reduce accidents.

Pennine Care NHS - www.penninecare.nhs.uk
We are working with Pennine Care NHS to identify key workers to act as advocates for home fire risk assessment referrals and training.
