Salford City Council Customer Call Centre
The Salford City Council Customer Call Centre is being used to target all lone pensioners in Salford for a home fire risk assessment when they call the Centre for any reason. The Call Centre receives over 700,000 calls a year and early evidence suggests that nearly half of all the borough’s home fire risk assessment referrals will come from this source.

Community committees
These groups are also attended by local councillors, residents associations, the Police and officers of Salford City Council.  A variety of issues are covered including fires and security of empty properties, hoax calls, nuisance fire setting, attacks on fire crews and advice for elderly people living in sheltered accommodation.

Salford community safety unit
This has been successful in reducing incidents involving bonfires and fireworks.

Home watch co-ordinator
The Home Watch Co-ordinator for Salford makes visits to households and delivers fire safety advice.
