Community rooms
Launch of Withington community room
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has developed community rooms on some of our stations throughout the 10 Metropolitan boroughs we serve. These rooms are available for community use free of charge for relevant community activities.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service aims to make the community a safer place, with particular focus on preventing injuries and deaths from fires. Getting to know our communities helps us better understand their needs and how we can help to make them safer.
As a Fire and Rescue Service we produce what is known as an Integrated Risk Management Plan, this outlines how we are going to address some of the fire-related risks that exist throughout Greater Manchester. The key focus areas are health, education, crime & disorder, housing and employment. All we ask is that your reason for using our room is relevant and appropriate, i.e. it contributes to securing safer communities by addressing one or more of the areas listed above.

Other considerations
The room may not be used by any political party or by individuals engaging in what is perceived by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service to be political activity. The room may not be used for commercial use.
During your visit some of our crews may also wish to come and talk to you about fire safety and other related issues. We ask that you help facilitate this as safety education is crucial for everyone and it’s a real opportunity for us to build some links with the community and really work together to help save lives.
