Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service visit local primary schools to delivery fire safety talks to children.

If your child is in Key Stage One, a visit by the fire service should cover the following topics:

• What we do
• Our Equipment (this may include a tour of a fire engine)
• The dangers of playing with matches and lighters
• Stop, drop and roll (a technique for putting out a fire on  your clothes)

If your child is in Key Stage Two, a visit by the fire service should cover the following topics:

• What smoke alarms do
• Escape Plans and Techniques
• Firefighters protective equipment (this may include a look at an actual firefighters kit)
• Making a 999 call
