FireTeam

FireTeam is an accredited programme for young people aged 14 years and over who are in need of an alternative approach to learning.

Many schools have organised their own alternative curriculum aimed at young people who are either at risk of, or not receiving full time education. FireTeam aims to build on the existing good practice by providing a personal development programme for young people who fall into this targeted group.

This course is flexible and usually runs 1 day a week over 12 weeks, however this course can be adapted and run over a longer or shorter period of time in line with any school timetable.

Young people will have the opportunity to enrol on a Level 2 BTEC qualification in the "Fire & Rescue Service's in the Community", which can be tailored to individual needs.

The aims of FireTeam

  • To reintegrate disengaged young people back into education
  • To provide a community based alternative to Key Stage 4 curriculum
  • To provide young people with the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised Level 2 vocationally specific qualification
  • To provide an insight into the work of the Fire & Rescue Service
  • To enable young people to progress onto further vocational qualifications
  • To work with providers of vocational training and alternative activities in order to meet the aspirations of young people.
